ID Verification for Co-Op Shared Branching

Co-Op Shared Branch tellers can now easily authenticate members with out-of-state IDs.
Members can scan a QR code or visit verify.coop.org for multi-factor authentication and a one-time-use passcode.
What is IDCheck?
IDCheck by Co-op is an additional layer of authentication, providing a secure and trusted way top verify your identity for Co-op Shared Branch transactions.
Why is it being implemented?
This new ID proofing measure for in-person visits to Co-op Shared Branch locations is a fraud prevention measure. It allows any Co-op branch you use to make certain it is YOU trying to access your account, not an imposter.
Am I required to use this?
Any credit union member who has an ID that is from outside of the state of the Co-op Shared Branch location they are using will be required to is IDCheck. If your ID matches that state of the Co-op location, you are using you are not required to use IDCheck.
How does it work?
When you visit a Shared Branch location, follow these simple steps:
- Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
- Select your credit union’s name from the drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
- TIP: Save your validation credentials for an even quicker experience next time!
- Show your unique one-time-use passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).
Will this decrease my transaction time?
Yes, this upfront process will reduce the time you will spend at the teller counter as your identity will already be verified for the teller.
Do I have to do this every time I use a Co-op Shared Branch?
Yes, you will login to access a unique passcode each visit. You will always need to enter your account number and the last four digits of your social security number. You can, however, store the images for your ID and selfie within the IDCheck platform.
What if I want to use my passport instead of a driver’s license or state ID?
Utilization of a passport for ID will require the use of IDCheck.
What if I do not have a smartphone?
Individuals without a device to access the IDCheck website will only be able to use Co-op Shared Branching in the state in which their ID is issued.
